SoccerAmericaNet and SoccerNation News are partnering with the Army National Guard to host a series of five skill development clinics free
for soccer players ages 16-18 to attend in March. These player development clinics will take place in Southern California and be hosted by top directors of coaching as well as former U.S. and England

, World Cup and Olympic champion Shannon MacMillan
, now director of Del Mar Carmel
Valley Sharks, former U.S. national futsal team captain Sean Bowers
, now founder of 619 Futsaland Academy Coach at Xolox Academy, and Fox Sports commentator and
former English international Warren Barton
will be among the hosts.
Former U.S. Soccer scout Rene
, director of coaching for Crusaders, Frank Zimmerman
, director of coaching for Oceanside Breakers, and Michael Duggan
, director of coaching for Carlsbad United, are also hosting sessions along with San Diego Development Academy coaches. Presidio Soccer League president Bob Turner
is organizing clinics in the San Diego series.
These free clinics are a part of the Army National Guard’s Grassroots Soccer (GRS)
program. The goal is to prepare youth players for success at college. The Army National Guard's Grassroots Soccer program was created to inform and educate high school-age soccer players, their
parents and coaches on how joining the Guard can assist them with reaching their goals.
The Army National Guard is sponsoring the clinics as well as providing lunch and T-shirts for all
the players. College coaches will also be on-site at selected clinics to help answer questions and train players. The free clinics are for ages 16-18 and are open to all interested.
