ELIASON LANDS IN ICELAND. Former Northwestern star
Matt Eliason, known
as the "bicycle kick" guy for the highlight-reel goal he scored as a last-minute fill-in in last summer's Messi & Friends exhibition match, has signed with Throttur FC of Iceland's 1. deild karla
(second division).
“His attitude and approach to the trial displayed his ambition and determination to succeed, “ Throttur head coach
Gregg
Ryder said said after a tryout during which Eliason scored a goal. “The main things, which prompted us to sign Matt, are his eye for goal and movement. He is a natural finisher; his first
thought is always, ‘Where is the goal?’ I expect big things from Matt. I am very confident, as is he, that he will score goals and contribute to the team’s success.”
Eliason, a former recruited walk-on, is still Northwestern’s all-time leading scorer with 33 goals, along with 82 career points.
