Birmingham City defender Jonathan Spector
is a late addition to the the U.S. national team that will be
training in Frankfurt, Germany, on Monday before heading to Larnaca, Cyprus, for its World Cup tune-up against Ukraine on Wednesday.
Spector's call-up brings to 22 the number of
players who will train Monday before the team departs the following day. Michael Bradley, Mix Diskerud
and Tim Ream
for the team that started
gathering Sunday in Frankfurt.
The Chicago product, who began his career at Manchester United, can play anywhere on the backline. He has not played for the USA since the historic 1-0
victory against Italy on Feb. 29, 2012, in Genoa. A last-minute injury prevented him from coming into camp ahead of the March 2013 qualifiers. He joins Birmingham teammate Will Packwood
, the one player who has never attended a senior national team camp. Both started for the Blues Saturday in their 1-0 loss at Ipswich Town. U.S. Roster: GOALKEEPERS (3):
