The USA, whose 43-game unbeaten streak was snapped
on Friday when it lost to Sweden, closes out group play at the Algarve Cup against
Denmark. TUESDAY, March 11
-- San Jose Earthquakes-Toluca
(live on FOX Sports 2 at 10 p.m. ET) is the
first of three USA-Mexico showdowns in the Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals.
-- The UEFA Champions League
resumes with two games -- Atletico
Madrid-AC Milan and Bayern Munich-Arsenal -- in which the home team won the first leg. The same goes for Wednesday's two games in the second leg of the round of 16 -- Barcelona-Manchester City and
Paris St. Germain-Bayer Leverkusen. WEDNESDAY, March 12
-- LA Galaxy-Tijuana
(live on FOX Soccer Plus at
10 p.m. ET) is as close it gets to a USA-Mexico derby at the club level. In this season's Torneo Clausura, Xolos has used six Americans, including teen star Paul Arriola, whom it recruited from
the Galaxy academy. Earlier in the evening, Sporting Kansas City-Cruz Azul pits the defending MLS champion against the current Liga MX leader Cruz Azul (live on FOX Sports 2 at 8 p.m. ET).
-- The Algarve Cup
concludes with six placement games in Portugal. The USA's 1-0 loss to Sweden means that it will not play in the placement game for the
second time in the last three years after reaching the final the previous nine years. The Cyprus Cup
, the other big women's tournament, also concludes with six
placement games. SATURDAY, March 15
-- Michael Bradley
and Jermaine Defoe
are slated to make their Toronto FC debuts as it travels to Seattle on MLS's Week 2 (live on NBCSN at 4:30 p.m. ET). Pablo Mastroeni makes his MLS
coaching debut as Colorado plays at New York, while San Jose, the third team idle in Week 1, opens at home against Real Salt Lake.

Women’s World Cup
opens in Costa Rica. The USA is absent from the 16-team tournament following its shootout loss to Mexico in the Concacaf qualifying tournament. There will be an American
presence at tournament, though. The Mexico squad features seven players based on American youth clubs. SUNDAY, March 16

soccer's biggest rivalries are Manchester United-Liverpool
. Liverpool and Arsenal, tied for second
in the EPL, need wins to stay within striking distance of leader Chelsea, while United and Spurs need home wins to keep their hopes alive of catching the top four.

suddenly is a big game to conclude MLS's Week 2. It's the only meeting of teams that both won
on the opening week of play.
