Seattle-Sporting KC outdraws U.S. friendly

[SOCCER ON THE AIR] Seattle-Sporting Kansas, the opening game of the 2014 season, drew an average audience of 330,000 viewers on NBCSN -- more than the 311,000 viewers who watched the USA-Ukraine friendly three days earlier on ESPN2 and more than two of the three EPL games NBCSN aired the same day. The most-watched regular-season game on NBCSN last season drew only 247,000 average viewers.

The MLS opening game followed the EPL match between Chelsea and Tottenham that averaged 465,000 viewers.

Earlier on the same morning, West Bromwich-Manchester United averaged just 211,000 viewers and Cardiff City-Fulham was watched by an average audience of 322,000 viewers.

MLS action returns on NBCSN Saturday with Seattle-Toronto FC at 4:30 p.m. ET. The game marks the Toronto debut of Michael Bradley.

I don't see how you can compare them...the USA men's national team game was played during working hours on a weekday for people in the US; the MLS game was played on a Satuday. I would expect a weekend game to almost always draw more viewers than a middle-of-the-week-during working-hours game, except for an actual World Cup game.

What will be more interesting is how many viewers will watch the TFC vs Seattle game! Another point to remember a lot of viewers who can't wAtch live will DVR it! Soccer fans true ones will find a way to watch!

Both telecasts were a dismal display of soccer.Nothing seems to change as persistent fouling and errant passes dominate while purpose and efficacy is missing. More egg in the face was thrown by the delusional TV commentators who had lots of positive commentary or silence when players made gross mistakes on the pitch.
