It pays to stay until the end

[MLS SPOTLIGHT] Goonie magic is spreading across MLS, it seems. Four MLS games in the first two weekends were decided in the 90th minute or second-half stoppage time, including Saturday night's San Jose-Real Salt Lake game with the inevitable equalizer from Victor Bermudez five minutes into stoppage time. As a matter of comparison, only two games in Europe's big four leagues were decided in the 90th minute or later over the same period.

Bermudez's equalizer came just four days after Alan Gordon also scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time to give the Quakes a 1-1 tie with Toluca in the Concacaf Champions League. The goals gave San Jose 15 stoppage-time goals since the start of the 2012 season that were winning or tying goals.

MLS is averaging 0.44 goals a game in the 90th minute or later, double any of Europe's big four leagues.

Well at least you got Vic's name right in the statistics section. Not so in the text.

Paul - Perhaps this article - or at least the headline - should be directed to MLS defenders? ;-)

What's the point; watching aimless balls flying throughout the pitch and senseless fouling does not make the last minute goals so interesting. Stats are over-valued.
