TSN averages almost 300,000 viewers for Toronto opener

[SOCCER ON THE AIR] Canadian network TSN attracted an average audience of nearly 300,000 viewers for Toronto FC’s 2-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders during the team’s 2014 opener -- for TSN's third most-watched MLS game ever and Toronto’s most-watched game since 2011.

The game marked the debut of Michael Bradley and Jermain Defoe, who scored both Toronto goals. More than 1.5 million unique Canadians viewers tuned in to the MLS on TSN broadcast.

TSN will broadcast 90 regular-season MLS matches this year, while Quebec network RDS will air 30 games in French. TSN air Toronto FC’s home opener against D.C. United on Saturday.

Bell Canada (TSN's parent company) and Rogers Communications (owner of TSN rival Sportsnet) hold a major interest in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, owner of Toronto FC as well as the NHL Maple Leafs and NBA Raptors.
