Rebuilt Scorpions stay unbeaten against MLS opponents

[NASL 2014 COUNTDOWN] The San Antonio Scorpions downed the Houston Dynamo's reserves, 2-0, in a scrimmage played Thursday in Houston. Polish striker Tomasz Zahorski and Colombian Walter Restrepo scored for the Scorpions in their second preseason match against in-state MLS opposition. The Scorpions tied FC Dallas, 1-1, in San Antonio on March 1.

"It was good build-up play," said Scorpions coach Alen Marcina. "We're an excellent possession team, we kept the ball moving, we had more legs than they did towards the end. They were starting to give us space and time on the ball, we got in behind them and finished a couple of nice chances."

After a disappointing second season in the NASL, the Scorpions have loaded up on players with MLS experience, announcing on Thursday the addition of right back Jonathan Borrajo, who has played for the New York Red Bulls and spent time in Norway. He joins a backline corps of Greg Janicki, Adrian Cann, Julius James and Stephen deRoux, all players with MLS experience.

Earlier in the week, the Scorpions signed Frenchman Eric Hassli. They also acquired goalie David Bingham and winger Sam Garza on loan from the San Jose Earthquakes.
