U.S. international Sarah Hagen
will join FC Kansas City after her contract with Bayern Munich of the
German Frauen-Bundesliga expires in June. Her play with Bayern -- 28 goals in 47 games over three seasons -- earned her a call-up to the U.S. national team for which she made her debut on March 7 at
the Algarve Cup.
Hagen scored 93 goals in 86 games for Wisconsin-Milwaukee and chose to play in Germany after her college career ended in 2011. She has scored 10 goals in 14 games so far
this season. Most recently, she provided the winning goal in the 2-0 victory over Freiburg.
“I'm extremely excited to join FC Kansas City in June for the remainder of their season.
I've had such a great experience here at Bayern,” said Hagen in a statement. “However, I've also made many sacrifices by choosing to be thousands of miles away from my family and friends.
For me, this is the biggest reason in returning back to the States to play. I'm still very much focused on finishing out my season here with Bayern, but am also looking forward to starting a new
chapter in my career at Kansas City.”
Hagen was called for the recent Algarve Cup in Portugal, where she played against Sweden and Denmark.
