Manchester City's first team is apparently the best-paid in world sports, according to a new report from Sporting Intelligence and ESPN. City’s average annual salary of $8.1 million for
first-team players puts the Premier League giant just above Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers, which pay out an average annual salary of $8.03 million and $7.8
Six of the list’s top ten are soccer teams, with Spanish giant Real Madrid in fourth, rival Barcelona in fifth, European champion Bayern Munich in seventh,
and Premier League giants Manchester United in eighth and Chelsea, 10th.
Although the Brooklyn Nets (sixth) and Chicago Bulls (ninth) are the only National Basketball Association teams
appearing in the top 10, the American basketball league is the highest paying: its 441 players earn an average salary of $5 million.
