NYCFC affiliates with eight New York area youth clubs

[MLS 2015] MLS expansion club New York City FC (which will announce on Monday plans to play at Yankee Stadium for its 2015 launch) has partnered with eight youth clubs throughout the greater New York City area that will serve as affiliate clubs.

The eight affiliate clubs will have the opportunity to work with coaches and training staff from NYCFC and parent club Manchester City.

NYCFC affiliate clubs:
• Blau-Weiss Gottschee
• Downtown United SC
• Manhattan SC
• Metropolitan Oval
• New York SC
• South Bronx United
• Staten Island United
• World Class FC

Of the eight clubs, Blau-Weiss Gottschee (formerly sponsored by the New York Cosmos) is a full member of the Development Academy, and Metropolitan Oval, New York SC and World Class FC have teams entered in the under-13/14 age group of the Development Academy.

NYCFC also hired Paul Jeffries, former director at Downtown United Soccer Club, as its director of community development, overseeing all its community engagement efforts, managing its coaching sessions, clinics and camps, as well as its ongoing relationship with local youth and adult leagues across the five boroughs.

Good luck NYCFC! There're lots soccer fans in NYC and surrounding areas; but you have to provide an exciting team; as you must know there's also lots of going on and to do in NYC. Nevertheless, I think people are starving for good soccer; but if you think you can fool the fans by bringing the older, famous
" has bins", from abroad, it ISN'T going to work.
