Chivas USA's McNamara faces knee surgery

[MLS INJURY REPORT] Rookie Thomas McNamara, who had started every game for Chivas USA until being injured April 12 at Portland, will undergo knee surgery after suffering a right ACL and medial meniscus tear.

The rookie out of Clemson went down with a non-contact injury in the 63rd minute of the game against the Timbers, a 1-1 draw. McNamara had to be carried off the field had been a key contributor for Chivas USA in midfield.

"We lost a very important player," Chivas USA coach Wilmer Cabrera said after the game.

The surgery will take place at a date yet to be determined, and no prognosis has yet been provided.

    It's too bad. I don't like hearing about "rookie" players with injuries like this. The Sounders will be playing today. I wonder how this will affect the game.
