Dempsey involved in eight straight Seattle goals

[MLS: The USA 20] Clint Dempsey, who had five goals in his last two games for Seattle, did not score against Chivas USA but he had assists on both goals, by Lamar Neagle and Obafemi Martins, as the Sounders rallied to beat Chivas USA, 2-1, and move into second place in the Western Conference.

Dempsey's totals for the season now are six goals and three assists in seven games. Of the last eight Seattle goals, Deuce has scored five, assisted on two and put the ball into the middle of the area for an own goal against FC Dallas on the other goal.

Seattle had a blunder by Dan Kennedy to thank for the first goal as the Chivas USA keeper failed to control a free kick played into the area and Dempsey played the loose ball to Neagle for an easy goal.

The second goal was something different as Dempsey and Martins teamed up for a nifty goal Martins scored by chipping Kennedy after being fed by Dempsey.

Of the 20 U.S. World Cup hopefuls in MLS -- the 19 called in for the Mexico, plus Brad Evans -- 17 played on Saturday.

Evans, a second-half sub, saw his first minutes for Seattle since injuring his calf in the second game of the season. Brad Davis and Bill Hamid did not dress, while Luis Gil dressed for Real Salt Lake but did not play in its 1-0 win at Portland. He is scheduled to join the U.S. U-21 camp in Carson, Calif., on Sunday.

FIVE goals and two assists in last three games does not seem like a player "saving" himself. The six goals and three assists so far this season are in five games (he was out two of the seven). As for Seattle play. Do you think the 26 fowls against them may have something to do with it!? Seven on Martins alone, equaling the Sounders total.

So a Chivas fan is "disappointed" with the Sounders. LOL! What match were you watching, Ric? John said it all.
