Boyd scores twice, Bedoya adds goal in big Nantes win

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Terrence Boyd scored two goals -- his first goals in seven weeks -- as Rapid Vienna tied SV Grodig, 2-2, on the road. Alejandro Bedoya scored in Nantes' 6-2 win over Valenciennes that all but assured the Canaris of staying up in France's Ligue 1.

-- Tim Howard's Everton swept Manchester United in former manager David Moyes' first trip to Goodison Park since taking over as United manager. The 2-0 win kept the Toffees within striking distance of Arsenal for fourth place in the English Premier League.

Saturday ...

Jozy Altidore's tally for the season is still one goal (in now 28 English Premier League games) and Sunderland is still in last place with four games to play, but Jozy and the Black Cats may have decided the EPL race when he was taken down for the deciding penalty kick that gave Sunderland a 2-1 win at Chelsea.

Altidore was taken down by Cesar Azpilicueta in the 82nd minute, and Italian Fabio Borini stepped up and scored the goal to give Sunderland the win. The win, which followed a 2-2 tie at Manchester City improbably kept the Black Cats alive, now just a point behind Cardiff City and Fulham with a game in hand, and three points behind 15th-place Norwich City, which is sitting on the edge of the relegation zone.

That Borini is on loan from Liverpool added to the drama as the win was another boost for the Reds' title hopes. Liverpool, can add to its two-point lead over second-place Chelsea when it plays Norwich on Sunday.

The loss was the first Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho suffered in 78 home games.
