CHAMPIONS WORLD: Chelsea romps, Bayern needs penalties to beat Man United

Serbian striker Mateja Kezman scored two second-half goals to lead Chelsea past Scottish champion Celtic, 4-2, Saturday in the ChampionsWorld in Seattle.

Kezman, acquired recently from PSV Eindhoven, scored in the 59th and 87th minutes to prod Chelsea before 30,504 spectators at Seahawks Stadium. The match was played in 96-degree heat, the second-hottest recorded temperature in Seattle history.

Oliver Kahn made two stops in the shootout as Bayern Munich defeated Manchester United on penalties, 4-2, after a scoreless tie Sunday at Soldier Field in Chicago in the second match of the 11-game exhibition series.

Thorsten Frings, Mehmet Scholl, Michael Ballack and Roque Santa Cruz connected on spot kicks for Bayern, which was making its only appearance in the series. Manchester United will meet Celtic on Wednesday in Philadelphia and AC Milan on Sunday in East Rutherford, N.J.

Kahn stopped Alan Smith's and John O'Shea's penalties.

Celtic, which got two goals from Craig Beattie in Seattle, plays again Monday, against Liverpool in Hartford, Conn. After the match against Manchester United, Celtic will face AS Roma on Saturday in Toronto.

Chelsea will face Roma (Thursday in Pittsburgh) and AC Milan (Aug. 2 in Philadelphia).

ARGENTINE runner-up Boca Juniors completed its three-game U.S. tour by again tying Mexican runner-up Guadalajara and beating Mexico's Club America.

Boca fell on penalties following a 1-1 tie Wednesday night with Chivas in Denver -- the teams drew, 2-2, the previous weekend in Los Angeles -- but dominated America, 3-1, Friday night in San Francisco.

Argentine champion River Plate wrapped up its two-game trek to Southern California with a 0-0 tie Saturday night with Mexican titlist UNAM at the Rose Bowl. River Plate won the previous meeting, 4-1, July 18 in San Diego.
