FC Kansas City looks for first win -- and revenge

[NWSL: Week 3] FC Kansas City gets its first chance to avenge its 2013 playoff loss to the Portland Thorns when it travels to Portland for the Thorns' home opener at Providence Park on Saturday night.

FC Kansas City opened a 2-0 lead inside the first 25 minutes of the semifinal game, but the Thorns responded with three unanswered goals -- including Allie Long's game-winning goal in overtime -- to win, 3-2.

Long has scored both goals this season for the defending champions, who opened with a 1-0 win and 1-1 tie on the road.

U.S. international Amy Rodriguez, playing her first season in the NWSL, also has both goals for  FC Kansas City, which is winless in its first two games. It followed up on its 1-1 draw at home against Sky Blue FC with a 3-1 loss at Washington.

FC Kansas City is still trying to fit the pieces together after losing a pair of Canadian stars: defender Lauren Sesselmann, sidelined with a knee injury suffered on the eve of the Cyprus Cup, and defensive midfielder Desiree Scott, who moved to Notts County Ladies in England.
