Dani Alves takes bite out of racist abuse

[VIDEO PICK: Off the Post] After Villarreal fans threw a banana at Barcelona's Dani Alves, the Brazilian peeled and ate it. "We have suffered this in Spain for some time," he said after the game. You have to take it with a dose of humor. We aren't going to change things easily. If you don't give it importance, they don't achieve their objective."

Alves has frequently been the target of racist abuse in Spain, such as last January when Real Madrid's fans made monkey chants during a game.

After consuming the banana, Alves sparked Barcelona's comeback from a 2-0 deficit for a 3-2 win. His off-target shot in the 65th minute became an own goal by Gabriel Armando and Alves' cross in the 78th minute ended with Mateo Musacchio heading the ball into his own net. Lionel Messi scored a third to give Barca the win.

What better way to put the racists down than to take what was meant to be a nasty comment as a gift...and to show appreciation for the gift by engineering a comeback and defeating the other team. I think it's called "karma" and/or "just desserts". Bravo, Mr Alves!!!
