Spain Releases 30-Man Provisional Squad

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque has put off making the most difficult decisions about his World Cup squad until later this month by naming a 30-man squad, which included five strikers: Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa and David Villa, Chelsea’s Fernando Torres, Manchester City’s Alvaro Negredo, and Fernando Llorente of Juventus. Del Bosque is likely to omit two of the five when he names his 23-man squad on May 25. Other surprise inclusions included Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata, Barcelona central defender Marc Bartra, and Real Madrid playmaker Isco. Spain will appear in Group B alongside the Netherlands, Chile and Australia.
