Wenger: My Arsenal Future Does Not Depend on FA Cup Title

Arsene Wenger insists that the result of Saturday’s FA Cup final between Arsenal and Hull City will not decide whether he agrees a new contract with the club. The Frenchman, who has been in charge of the club since 1997, has not won a trophy with Arsenal in nine years, and is out of contract at the end of the season.

Writing in a blog post for Eurosport, Wenger said Saturday’s result would not affect his desire to stay. "The result of Saturday's FA Cup final will have no influence on my future at Arsenal," he wrote. "When I've been part of a club for 18 years, it would be a bit ridiculous to base my decision on one single match, don’t you think? Will I be the manager next season? Yes, normally. It’s not completely finalized yet, but it should happen."

The last time Wenger’s Arsenal made it to the final of a cup competition was in 2011 when his team was beaten by Birmingham City in the League Cup final.
