Diego Costa on Monday went to see a specialist doctor to discover the exact nature of the hamstring problem in his right leg, having come off in just the 9th-minute the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid, which Atleti lost 4-1. The Atletico striker had previously undergone an unconventional treatment in Belgrade using horse placenta.
Doctor Pedro Guillén confirmed that the player has a Grade 1 tear and needs to rest for 15 days. “Diego Costa is still carrying the injury, a micro-tear in the hamstring”, he said.
It is unclear whether Vicente Del Bosque will wait that long, however, as the Spain coach said that all those he calls up on June 2nd should be perfectly fit and ready to train for La Roja’s opening match of the tournament, against the Netherlands on June 13.
