Cristiano Ronaldo has now joined up with the Portugal squad, but ESPN reports that the Real Madrid forward is still troubled by the thigh injury that hampered the last few months of the club season for him. Ronaldo completed just two of Madrid’s last 10 games before the UEFA Champions League final, which Real won, 4-1 in overtime.

After the 29-year-old joined up with the national team squad on Thursday, the Portugal soccer association released the following statement about the status of his injury: "Soreness in the posterior region of the left thigh, specific recovery work in the hotel."

Nevertheless, Ronaldo and Raul Meireles, Joao Coutinho, Hugo Almeida and Ruben Amorim, who are also injured, are expected to travel to the U.S. for its warm-up games against Mexico on June 6 in Boston and Ireland on June 10 in New Jersey.
