Cousins wins Gatorade Girls Player of the Year

[AWARDS] Junior Katie Cousins of Jefferson Forest (Va.) was named the 2013-14 Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year. She did not play high school soccer as a sophomore but has led the Cavaliers to a 20-1-1 record and the Conference 24 title in the Roanoke area this spring.

The Tennessee commit missed the final three games of the regular season due to duty with the U.S. under-18 women's national team. She had six goals and eight assists through 19 games.

Cousins is the first player from Virginia to win the award. Morgan Andrews, now at Notre Dame, also won the award as a junior two years ago.
