Ghana's Black Stars make roster cuts

[WORLD CUP 2014] Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has named his 23-player squad for the 2014 World Cup. The Black Stars, who open against the USA on June 16, will be one of the youngest teams at the World Cup with an average age of 24.8.

Six starters from Ghana's 2-1 overtime win over the USA in the 2010 World Cup return: Samuel Inkoom, Jonathan Mensah, Andre Ayew, Kwadwo Asamoah, Kevin Prince Boateng and Asamoah Gyan.

The final cuts were defender Jerry Akaminko, who broke his ankle in the closing moments of Saturday's friendly at the Netherlands, defender Jeffrey Schlupp, who also started against the Dutch, and striker David Accam.

The Black Stars head to Florida for training and a match against South Korea June 9 in Miami before going to Brazil.
