Rossi fails to make Italy squad

[WORLD CUP 2014] Giuseppe Rossi will not be going to the World Cup. In his latest comeback bid from knee problems, the New Jersey product started in Saturday's friendly against Ireland but had little impact in a 0-0 tie. Coach Cesare Prandelli, who had praised Rossi for his character, picked Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne over Rossi.

Rossi, 27, was one of the final cuts before the 2010 World Cup and missed Euro 2012 with a knee injury.

Other cuts from Prandelli's preliminary squad: Roma forward Mattia Destro; Brazilian-born midfielder Romulo and defenders Manuel Pasqual and Christian Maggio. Key midfielder Riccardo Montolivo was lost after breaking his left leg against Ireland.

Center back Andrea Ranocchia will to go to Brazil and replace Andrea Barzagli if the Juventus defender is not 100 percent.

Rossi first tore his ACL with Spanish club Villarreal in October 2011 and needed three operations. He was having an excellent season with Fiorentina when he again suffered a knee injury in January.

The karma kurse continues. Rossi to miss 2 World Cups due to injury, will be too old/injured to play in 2018. In the future, maybe US immigrants should think of giving back to this country instead of always taking.

Why does Jon Klinsmann's penultimate tweet come to mind...

He did it for his Dad who was born in italy. Also getting Green is no make up for Rossi. Green may one day be as good as Rossi but he certainly is not now. He should be in Germany right now training at the Bayern Munich Facility and be ready for a US friendly in the fall. What does Jonathan Klinsman'immature tweet have to do with this?
