Houston loses rookie Sherrod for season

[MLS INJURY REPORT] Houston Dynamo Mark Sherrod, one of the most promising rookie forwards in MLS, underwent reconstructive surgery on Wednesday for a torn ACL in his left knee that will sideline him the remainder of the 2014 season.

The 6-foot-3 Sherrod was selected by the Dynamo in the second round of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Memphis. He appeared in nine games (three starts) for the Dynamo, tallying two goals and one assist. Sherrod's size made him a valuable option up front.

The Dynamo has lost its last three games by scores of 3-0, 3-0 and 2-0. It returns to BBVA Compass Stadium on Friday against defending MLS Cup champion Sporting Kansas City, which has a five-game winless streak
