Chile's 'Scary' World Cup Commercials

Chile’s official World Cup sponsors have ditched the idea that merely taking part in the World Cup is what counts. The South American country, which has been drawn into one of the tournament’s toughest groups alongside world champion Spain, 2010 runner-up Netherlands, and outsider Australia, faces Australia on June 13, and beer brand Cerveza Cristal has produced a series of ads under the slogan “Chile is scary” in an attempt to psych out its opponents. An even more convincing ad by Banco de Chile features the Chilean miners who were trapped for 70 days following an earthquake in 2010 talking about how they laugh in the face of the group of death, and indeed, actual death.
