D.C. United's Espindola is sidelined six weeks

[MLS INJURY REPORT] D.C. United forward Fabian Espindola, who with seven goals and eight assists has been involved in more goals than any MLS player this season, is expected to miss six weeks with a strained medial collateral ligament in his right knee sustained in United’s 4-2 win at the Montreal Impact on June 11.

Espíndola suffered the injury seconds after kickoff on a tackle by Impact midfielder Felipe Martins. Espindola left the game at halftime. The win moved D.C. United into first place in the Eastern Conference (7-4-4, 25 points) at the World Cup break.

Espindola has scored 51 goals in 168 games in eight MLS seasons. He has had nine goals in each of the last two seasons with Real Salt Lake, for which he played six season, and New York before moving to D.C. United in 2014.

Chris Rolfe (acquired from Chicago early in the season) and Luis Silva (with a hat trick in the Impact game) are next on D.C. United with three goals. U.S international Eddie Johnson has one.
