At least 13 people including young children were killed by a bomb in northeast Nigeria that was set off where fans had gathered to watch the World Cup, witnesses told Reuters. Apparently, an attacker dropped a device in front of the venue on Tuesday night and then ran off, while other said it was the work of a suicide bomber. The Nigerian government has responded by advising people to avoid gathering in public to watch the World Cup. Most suspect the Islamist group Boko Haram, whose name roughly translates to "Western education is sinful,” is responsible for the attack. The group has killed thousands in its push to turn religiously mixed Nigeria into an Islamic state.
