The Washington Spirit today acquired Australian forward Lisa De Vanna
from the Boston Breakers in exchange for
Mexican defender Bianca Sierra
and its third- and fourth-round picks in the 2015 NWSL College Draft to the Breakers. The Spirit is the 29-year-old De Vanna's fourth club in less than
a year and her 12th in her career.
The Spirit is her third NWSL club after Sky Blue FC and Boston for which she played six games, recording one assist. The Matilda star, who played in
Australia over the winter, will be looked upon to contribute to the Washington frontline immediately. She had played in Washington for the WPS Freedom.
“Lisa is one of the
most exciting attacking threats in the league and we are very pleased to welcome her to D.C.,” Spirit general manager and coach Mark Parsons
“She has the ability to change games and will bring even more hunger and fight to our squad. I can’t wait to see her make her Spirit debut.”
