[BRAZIL 2014] Lionel Messi moved into a share of the World Cup goal-scoring lead with
Brazil's Neymar, scoring two goals in Argentina's 3-2 win over Nigeria that clinched the Group F title with a perfect record. The Super Eagles still joined the Albiceleste in the round of 16 as
Iran, the only other team still alive, fell to Bosnia-Herzegovina, 3-1.
Messi's goals gave him four for the tournament and moved Argentina into the round of 16, where it will be in the
other half of the bracket from host Brazil.
"We're doing OK," Messi said. "Now we have five or six rest days and I'm doing fine."
Bosnia-Herzegovina's win was its first after
narrow losses to Argentina and Nigeria. It was the only team making its first appearance in the tournament.
After the match, Iran coach
Carlos
Queiroz, who once coached MLS's MetroStars, confirmed he was quitting.
"As you can imagine I feel very proud and it's an honor to work for Iran," he said. "I have just come here to
say thank you to all who have supported me and given me this opportunity to work for Iran."
