Queiroz Resigns as Iran Coach

Carlos Queiroz stepped aside as coach of the Iranian national team after failing to progress to the second round from World Cup Group F. Iran, which had two points from its first two games, had a chance to progress to the round of 16 with a win against Bosnia & Herzegovina on Wednesday, but Queiroz’s men ultimately fell to Safet Susic’s Dragons, 3-1.

"I have to congratulate Bosnia and Herzegovina, they deserved to win and, without disrespect to Argentina or Nigeria, I believe that they should have qualified from this group," Queiroz said. "They have great players who play for great clubs -- and I do believe that they are the best team of the group.”
