Luis Suarez: ''I deeply regret what occurred'

[BRAZIL 2014] Luis Suarez finally fessed up. Seven days after biting Giorgio Chiellini, he offered an apology to the Italy defender "and the entire football family" for the incident that resulted in his suspension for the World Cup and a four-month worldwide ban.

Suarez issued his apology via Twitter, and Chiellini accepted the apology.

''It's all forgotten,'' the Italian wrote in English. ''I hope FIFA will reduce your suspension.''

After the decision of the FIFA disciplinary committee that kept him out of the Uruguay-Colombia game on Saturday, Chiellini said the sanctions -- a nine-game international ban and four-month worldwide ban -- were too harsh.
