Foreign flags banned by French city

[WORLD CUP: Off the Post] Citing security concerns, the French city of Nice has banned the "ostentatious display" of foreign flags during the World Cup from from 6 p.m. until 4 a.m.

The announcement was made shortly before Monday's Algeria-Germany game, which the Germans won in overtime.

"Intolerable behavior that disrupts public tranquility," prompted the order, said Christian Estrosi, deputy mayor of Nice and a member of the conservative UMP party, according to AP.

Nice has a large Algerian community and celebrations after Algeria reached the second round with a tie against Russia resulted in 74 arrests.
