Di Maria Out, Aguero in for Semifinal

Angel Di Maria will miss Argentina’s World Cup semifinal clash against the Netherlands following the thigh injury the Real Madrid winger picked up in the 1-0 quarterfinal win against Belgium on Saturday, but forward Sergio Aguero has recovered from a muscle strain and will be fit to play in Wednesday’s game, Albiceleste doctor Daniel Martinez told reporters on Monday.

"Angel has a Grade 1 injury. Of course he won't play in Argentina's next game. After that, we'll evaluate the situation day-by-day," Martinez said. "Sergio has practiced three times. He's ready to play." Aguero has missed Argentina’s last two games, but should be fit enough to make the substitutes’ bench for the semifinal.

Meanwhile, AS claims that Di Maria, who was diagnosed with a grade one tear to his right quadriceps, will undergo a stem cell treatment in an attempt to be fit for next Sunday’s World Cup final, should Argentina make it that far.
