What They're Saying: Alejandro Sabella

"I believe he is in the pantheon of the greats. But he's been there for a while."

-- Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella after Lionel Messi was named the winner of the adidas Golden Ball as the best player at the World Cup but could not lead the Albiceleste to the title, raising the inevitable comparison to Argentina's all-time great, Diego Maradona, who won the 1986 World Cup. Alfredo di Stefano. Different era but if he is not worthy of being mentioned with Pele and Maradona, who is. Just ask Pele!

Di Stefano, Eusebio, Cruyff, George Best, Puskas, Roberto Baggio, and Zico. As for Messi compared to Maradona, in my opinion to become a lagend in soccer, he needs to win a World Cup, right now he may be comparable to Roberto Baggio.
