FIFA on Monday confirmed that Barcelona’s new signing Luis Suarez would not be publicly unveiled until after he serves his four-month ban for biting Italy’s GiorgioChiellini during the World Cup. Last week, his former club Liverpool agreed to sell the Uruguay striker to Barca for 75 million pounds ($128.3 million), which is the third largest transfer feeever.

Earlier this month, Suárez had his appeal against the four-month ban, which includes a nine-game international ban and a 66,000-pound fine ($112,750), rejected by FIFA’sappeals committee. According to the Guardian, The 27-year-old is now expected to appeal to the European Union’s Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in order to try and reduce thesanctions. One avenue open to Suarez, who has bitten another player now on three separate occasions, is to ask the CAS to put his ban on hold pending its final decision, although that would risk himmissing more games if the court upholds the sanctions.
