Toni Kroos on Thursday completed the switch from Bayern Munich to Real Madrid, signing with Los Blancos for six-years for a fee believed to be close to 25 million euros ($34.2 million). According to reports, the 24-year-old will earn close to 6.7 million euros ($9 million) and will wear the No. 8 shirt for the European champion.
Kroos was one of the stars of the recently concluded World Cup in Brazil, leading Germany to victory and finishing as the top-ranked player according to the Castrol Player Index.
“We thank Toni Kroos for his time in Munich,” Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern Munich’s CEO, said. “We have achieved great success with him here. We wish him and his family all the best in Madrid and with Real.” The 24-year-old’s contract at Bayern had only a year to run and the player had been unsettled for some time, with Manchester United among his suitors.
