Veteran college coach Logan Fleck passes away

“He was a wonderfully caring person, committed to family, friends and student-athletes," Stetson athletic director Jeff Altier said in the release. "Logan was passionate about the game of soccer and dedicated himself to advancing the game in college athletics. Logan was a person of high integrity and always demonstrated this integrity in the way he coached the game."
Fleck played college soccer at Old Dominion before following his father (who died in 2011) into coaching. He was a high school coach in Florida before becoming an assistant position at Florida Southern College, where served for two seasons. In 1987, he became the head coach at UALR, where he started both the men’s and women’s programs.
He served as the men's head coach at USF for three seasons (34-17-0 record) before starting the women's program in 1995. In 12 seasons as USF's women's coach, he amassed a 97-94-18 record with a Conference USA regular season title in 1998. He then coached men's program at Stetson (59-47-18 record) for seven seasons.
“I had only been at Stetson a few months when Coach Fleck and his fall 2009 men’s soccer team won the first conference championship of my presidency,” said Stetson president Dr. Wendy Libby. “He was so pleased by that. I am wearing the conference championship ring today in his memory. I appreciated his enthusiasm and love of the game.”
Fleck is survived by his mother, Carol Fleck; sister, Mary Beth Fleck; stepmother, Jan Fleck, and niece, Braden.

Shocking news about Logan Fleck. It seems like only recently we were saying "Good-Bye" to his father, my good friend Tom. Logan was a fine player at Old Dominion, a big contributor to soccer in Florida, and a significant part of the college game. My deep sympathies to his family.

I too was sad to read of Logan's passing. He was a tireless fighter for what is best for our sport as it develops in our country. His voice will truly be missed! He has been a friend for many years, and one of the good guys. I will miss our conversations. Logan made a difference.
