During his press unveiling on Wednesday, USA defender Fabian Johnson, who moved to Borussia Monchengladbach from Hoffenheim on a free transfer this summer, said that he has recovered fromthe thigh injury he sustained during the USA’s 2-1 Round of 16 loss to Belgium at the World Cup and is looking forward to beginning the Bundesliga season with his new club.

“In my view[Monchengladbach is] the best club for me to progress as a player,” the 26-year-old said. “No player should ever be satisfied with what he’s already achieved, you have to want more, andI’m no different to anyone else.” He added: “Borussia are in the Europa League, which excites me. I want to continue my personal development and help the team be successful.”

Regardingthe injury, he added, “I picked up a tight thigh muscle in our final World Cup game against Belgium but I had treatment on it right away and was able to enjoy my holiday. I’ve come back rested andfresh and I’m looking forward to my new role. I hope I can make up the three weeks I’ve missed as soon as possible. I’ll be doing my utmost to get back up to speed quickly.”
