A decade after making his pro debut at the age of 14 with D.C. United, Freddy Adu
is off to play in
Serbia, where FK Jagodina announced on Thursday that Adu is headed there and will play after "all the formalities of signing the contract" are completed. It will be Adu's 10th club in seven different
Adu has not played since his contract at Brazilian club Bahia was not renewed at the end of last season. He only played three league games for the Salvador-based club, the last
in May 2013. More recently, he has trained at clubs in England, Norway and the Netherlands without securing a contract.
FK Jagodina plays in the city of the same name south of Belgrade.
It is a rising power in Serbian soccer, having qualified for the Europa League for the last three years in a row following many years in the lower divisions. It was eliminated by Romania club Cluj on
Thursday in this year's Europa League.
Adu has played for three MLS clubs, two Portuguese clubs and clubs in Monaco, Greece, Turkey and Brazil. A four-year contract with Benfica kept him
