[BOYS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP] A new national boys competition was launched with the formation of the 24-club Boys Club Championship competing in four age groups andsanctioned by the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA).
“Outside of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, there was not a platform for strong boys clubs to compete at ahigh level nationally,” said BCC president Terry Foley, who also serves as president and technical director of founding member FC Virginia. “We feel the BCCwill give these clubs the competition they desire on a regular basis. The success of the BCC will be the quality of competition across all age groups.”
Clubs that will compete inthe Boys Club Championship include Ohio Elite, FC Virginia, Slammers FC, Fullerton Rangers, LA Premier, Albion SC, Gwinnett Soccer Association (Ga.) , Birmingham United Soccer Association(Ala.), Tennessee SC, Maryland United, FC Bucks (Pa.), and Waza (Mich.).
“We are extremely excited to be a part of such a forward-thinking group in the BCC. Our philosophy hasalways been to test our players against the other top clubs and players across the country,” said Tim Lesiak, the BCC’s vice president and executive director ofOhio Elite. “Our boys teams are highly competitive and the BCC gives us a consistent, competitive platform against similar clubs from different parts of the country.”
