Cal South teams clean up Sunday at National Championships

[U.S. YOUTH SOCCER] Cal South teams won five of the 10 titles decided on Sunday as the 2014 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships wrapped up at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, Md. Beach FC (under-16 and under-18 girls) was the lone club to claim two championships, while DMCV Sharks Elite (under-17 girls) was the only defending champion to successfully defend its crown in 2014.

National Championships: Saturday

Beach FC Ingrassia beat defending champion Cleveland United White, 2-0, with a pair of goals by Ashley Gonzales. Beach FC Academy won in a shootout over Tampa Bay United. DMCV earned back-to-back national titles after defeating VSA Heat Blue, 1-0, on Gianna Montini's header in the second half.

NEFC Elite won the U-14 girls championship, after defeating another Cal South team, 2013 champ Legend, 2-0, with overtime goals by Taylor Sherman and Marykate McGuire, her seventh overall goal.
