U.S. U-17s drop second straight game

[OPEN NORDIC TOURNAMENT] The U.S. under-17 national team dropped its second game in two days at the Open Nordic Tournament in Denmark. Again once, it fell behind early and could not recover, losing a 4-1 decision to Norway.

Captain John Hou Souter led Norway with two goals. He put the Norwegians ahead after the eighth minute, and Andreas Helmersen made it 2-0 after 19 minutes, Elijah Rice cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 45th minute, but Norwegians put the game away with two more goals in the second half.

The USA had dropped its first game on Monday to host Denmark, 2-0, after conceding two early goals. It closes out group play Thursday against the Faroe Islands.

The U.S. U-17s consist mostly of players on the second team. Rice is one of four players along with goalkeeper William Pulisic, defender Edwin Lara and forward Orrin McKinze Gaines who will join the first team at the Copa Mexico de Naciones, which kicks off Saturday in Mexico City.
