U.S. U-17s earn first win in Denmark

[OPEN NORDIC TOURNAMENT] After losing its first two games to host Denmark and Norway, the U.S. under-17 national team picked up its first win at the Open Nordic Tournament in Kolding with a 4-1 win over the Faroe Islands.

The USA led 3-0 after 21 minutes on goals by Kai Koreniuk, Orrin McKinze Gaines and an own goal. It will play Finland Saturday in the fifth-place game.

The U.S. U-17s consist mostly of players on the second team. Gaines, along with goalkeeper William Pulisic, defender Edwin Lara and forward Elijah Rice, will join the first team at the Copa Mexico de Naciones, which kicks off Saturday in Mexico City.
