Top 25 U.S. soccer crowds (2014)

[CROWD COUNT] The record crowd of 109,318 in Ann Arbor, Mich., for the Man. United-Real Madrid capped a big day for soccer crowds in the United States.

The Liverpool-AC Milan game drew 69,364 fans in Charlotte, a record for a match in North Carolina, and the San Jose Earthquakes drew 48,765 for the opening game of the NFL 49ers' new Levi's Stadium.

Seven of the top 25 crowds for the year were for matches that took place in the last week.

The Guinness International Champions Cup was expanded from seven U.S. dates in 2013 to 13 U.S. dates in 2014. Seven of the matches played so far rank among this year's top 25 crowds. Only Inter Milan-Roma in Philadelphia (12,169 fans) and Olympiakos-AC Milan in Toronto (10,603) of the 12 games have not drawn more than 30,000 fans.

    I don't understand why they moved Olympiakos/Milan game from NYC to Toronto. Playing in NYC for any Italian team would have better attendance than playing in Toronto or Philadelphia.

    In Philadelphia there were plenty of Italian-Americans in attendance but ticket prices kept away all but the one percent. Tickets started at $54 and went above $200 for a meaningless, albeit entertaining, pre-season match.
