The U.S. under-17 national team's string of international titles ended when it fell to Ecuador, 2-1, in the semifinals of the Copa Mexico
de Naciones on Friday in Mexico City. The Americans had come into the tournament with titles in three straight competitions at which they played their first team.
Ecuador went ahead on a
goal by Washington Bryan Corozo
early in the first half, and Joel Montezuma
added to the lead late in the second half
from the penalty spot after a foul by Danny Barbir
in the area. Christian Pulisic
set up Alejandro Zendejas
for a consolation goal in stoppage time of the 70-minute match.
Ecuador will play Paraguay on Sunday in the final. Paraguay beat Brazil in a shootout
after the other semifinal ended 1-1.
The Ecuador-Paraguay final and USA-Brazil third-place game will both take place at Azteca Stadium. U.S.

The U.S. U-17s played with a "B" at a tournament in Denmark when it finished with one win and three losses.
