Klopp: No Friendship Between Bayern, BVB Players

Juergen Klopp thinks you won’t see any friendship displayed on the field when members of Germany’s World Cup-winning team turn out for both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup on Wednesday.

The Dortmund coach, whose team triumphed in the same competition against Bayern last year, believes that both teams want to win the season curtain-raiser. "You won't see much of that friendship on the pitch," Klopp told his pre-game news conference. "They will not begrudge each other the dirt under their nails."

Both teams will be missing several key players, Klopp noted. BVB captain Mats Hummels, forward Marco Reus, winger Jakub Blaszczykowski and midfielders Nuri Sahin and Ilkay Gundogan are unavailable, while Kevin Grosskreutz, keeper Roman Weidenfeller and Erik Durm have only just returned to training. "But the same applies for FC Bayern,” Klopp noted. “They also had to cope with the late return of the World Cup players. They might have had the most complicated preseason,” he said.
