Brian leads Virginia to opening victory

[WOMEN'S ROUNDUP: Friday] Two days after playing for the USA in its 4-1 win over Switzerland, 2013 Soccer America Women's Player of the Year Morgan Brian opened her senior season with a pair of assists as No. 3 Virginia beat Marshall, 3-0.

Brian found Makenzy Doniak, just back from the U-20 Women's World Cup, and Kaili Torres. Alexis Shaffer had the third goal for the Cavaliers on the hour mark.

“We feel good about the win, but we left a lot out there in terms of the performance,” said UVA coach Steve Swanson. “I think we can be a lot better. We had 26 shots tonight, but not many in goal. We got into good positions, but didn’t create many quality chances.
