Rocket from Tica Rodriguez gives Nittany Lions 4-3 win

[DUKE-PENN STATE: Women] Three times No. 7 Penn State went ahead against No. 22 Duke at the Duke Nike Classic and three times the Blue Devils equalized. But they had no answer for Costa Rica international Raquel Rodriguez's goal in the 83rd minute as it was the game-winner in the 4-3 victory for the Nittany Lions.

The Nittany Lions (4-1-0) also got goals from Emily Hurd, Mallory Weber and freshman Frannie Crouse.

Hurd and Crouse, who were joined by Salina Williford on the all-tournament team, helped set up the winner. Crouse beat two Blue Devil defenders and slipped it to Hurd at the far top corner of the 18-yard box. Hurd then laid it off to Rodriguez, who rocketed it in for the winner.

Kelly Cobb, Rebecca Quinn and Christina Gibbons scored for Duke, which is now 3-3-0.

North Carolina claimed the tournament title with victories over Arkansas (2-1) and Penn State (1-0 in overtime).
Cobb was selected the Offensive MVP, while North Carolina’s Brooke Elby earned Defensive MVP accolades.
