"Overall, it was a very hard-fought win, and I thought the team showed a lot of character," said FC Edmonton coach Colin Miller. "I thought our back four was terrific, and it's a performance that puts us in the mix. At this point in the season, you just want to win, even if it's ugly."

Minnesota United FC regained the lead in the NASL fall standings as Miguel Ibarra scored two goals to give it a 2-0 victory over the San Antonio Scorpions in front of a record crowd of 8,313 at Toyota Field on Saturday evening. The Carolina RailHawks solidified their hold on fourth place in the combined standings behind Minnesota, San Antonio and New York with a 5-4 win over the Cosmos in a game that saw all nine goals scored in the second half.
"I think we did a great job of managing the game defensively and keeping our shape," said United coach Manny Lagos after the win in San Antonio. "I still think we could've possessed the ball a bit better, but we really got back in numbers and made it hard for San Antonio to create chances."
Devon Sandoval scored twice to lead Carolina past the Cosmos. Leo Osaki with a 26-yard free kick, Enzo Martinez and Tiyi Shipalane also had goals for the RailHawks to the delight of the crowd of 5,593 at WakeMed Soccer Park.
"There was a never-say-die attitude about both teams and a lot of goals," said RailHawks coach Colin Clarke. "Obviously, we made it a lot harder than we should've done, we weren't good defending, but a great response from halftime. Three points, that's the most important thing tonight."
